The Eurotier trade fair had not opened the doors to the exhibition grounds for much more than a couple of hours, when Perstorp Performance Additives opened their seminar on acidification and bacterial inhibition in the nearby town of Hildesheim. Around 25 participants from different parts of the world visited the technical seminar.
Head of Perstorp’s Business Unit Performance Additives, Paul Österberg had the honors of opening the seminar. Before introducing the main speakers and topics for the seminar, he presented an overview of Perstorp to those present. He briefly discussed the impact of the current economical crisis while outlining the core businesses of Perstorp. Some business areas such as paints and coatings were mentioned by name as the topic shifted more towards the 125 year long history of Perstorp in the chemical industry. Feed additives have been a key business area of Perstorp since the 1960s.
Launch of ProPhorce® AC 250
The main reason for this seminar was to launch officially a new type of acidifier in the range of Perstorp Performance Additives. ProPhorce® AC 250 is a dry, non-corrosive acidifier with a very competitive cost rate, a positive effect on the Dietary Electrolyte Balance and good antibacterial effects.
Leading this presentation was Dr. Marc Kinjet, one of the people responsible for the creation of this new product. He started off on a general level by explaining why acidifiers are so beneficial. After this a multitude of research results were presented which amongst others show the pH lowering effect and the antibacterial effect of ProPhorce® AC 250. On a more practical level, in vivo trials proving the positive effect on feed conversion ratio and daily gain were discussed.
More information on ProPhorce® AC 250 can be found by clicking here, or by reading the article by Dr. Marc Kinjet in the newsletter.
New research results of ProPhorce® BD
ProPhorce® BD is Perstorp Performance Additives’ star antibacterial product. Newly appointed Dr. Albert van Dijk presented new research trials proving its effect.
ProPhorce® BD is based on the combination of mixtures of organic acids with specific essential oils. As an introduction Van Dijk discussed the antibacterial effects and the effects on growth performance of organic acids, and the effects of essential oils. Once these effects were established the considerable synergistic effect of the two was presented.
Several trials, mostly conducted in Spain, provide new information in favour of ProPhorce® BD. Live weight gain and feed conversion ratio improve significantly when using ProPhorce® BD, even when compared to competitive products. Dr. Van Dijk also presented the effects of this specific combination of acids and essential oils that were reported in a Salmonella java challenge test.
Cases where ProPhorce® BD has had amazing results against Salmonella, E. Coli, Clostridia and Oedema disease on farms all over the world were discussed. As customers were invited to participate in discussions and ask questions, Sales Managers with field experience using the product joined in to provide some “hands-on” advice.
When the discussions were on a potential case-to-case level, Business Unit Manager Paul Österberg took the lead one more time. Cordially thanking all participants for their time and participation, he invited them to join the Perstorp team for a social drink and dinner as a closure for a successful day of exchanging knowledge and experiences.
